Anyone know "companyweb"??

Post by usenet » Thu Jul 02, 2009 8:27 am

(I've tried posting this elsewhere but no responses - I'm hoping
someone here might have the knowledge....)

One of my customers is currently planning to migrate away from MS
Small Business Server to a full MS Server environment.

One area where I am unclear is the extent of Sharepoint within SBS.

SBS provides what it calls "companyweb" which my client uses as their
intranet.

I assume this is just some basic software layered on to Sharepoint?

If so, I'm assuming their new Server Domain will require Sharepoint
Server, and that the companyweb data?

Also, will they need Sharepoint CALs for each of their domain users
(likely to be 250+) if those users are to be granted access to their
company data?

TIA,

JohnK

Your assumptions are correct. This is Windows SharePoint Services (WSS),
which you will need to load on your new server. There are no separate CALs
for WSS, only the full MOSS product.
